Staff & Contributors

Here's a brief introduction to the core staff of Young Men's Health (YMH), who generate content and features on the site. We've also had content developed by our ace peer leaders, visiting medical fellows, and other visiting health care professionals.

Dr. S. Jean Emans

Co-Founder of Young Men's Health

Dr. Emans is a Professor of Pediatrics at the Harvard Medical School, Chief of the Division of Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine, and the Director of the Office of Faculty Development at Children’s Hospital Boston. She is the author of several textbooks, including Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (5th edition, 2005), and more than 150 medical articles. She has lectured extensively around the world on many reproductive health topics. A co-founder of Young Men's Health, Dr. Emans edits all of our health guides. In 2006, she was honored with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Adele Dellenbaugh Hofmann Adolescent Health Award. Dr. Emans feels passionately about empowering adolescents to take care of their health.

Judith Siegel, MSW, LICSW

Director of Social Work, Boston LEAH program, Children’s Hospital Boston

Judith Siegel is the Director of Mental Health Services in the Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine Program at Children’s Hospital Boston. She has many years experience with teens and adults in a variety of settings including clinics, hospitals, colleges, and in private practice. Ms. Siegel has co-authored and edited most of the emotional health guides on our website and also contributed to our Teen Safe curriculum.

Sara Forman, MD

Director of Medical Student and Resident Training

Dr. Forman works in the Adolescent Clinic at Children’s Hospital Boston. She is the Director of medical student and resident training for the Division of Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine. Dr. Forman works with our male peer educators on how to improve doctors' communication with teens. She supervises the peer educators when they do practice interviews with the doctors in training at Children’s Hospital. She is very committed to improving the care that the clinic gives to young men. She is also a very enthusiastic Red Sox fan!

Freedom Baird, MS

Senior Internet Resource Coordinator

Freedom Baird coordinates the digital media side of Young Men's Health. A graduate of MIT's Media Lab, she is an accomplished information developer, and web & graphic designer. She has received awards for her digital media work, including for an interactive animation presented at the New York Film and Video Festival, and a collaboratively built installation for London's Millenium Dome. She works on the YMH & CYWH websites, newsletters, print materials, and health guides, and, sometimes when she's sleeping, she dreams about interactive media.

Todd Kropp, BS

Internet Resource Developer

Todd Kropp contributes to the content development and graphic design of Young Men's Health. He has worked in the Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine program at Children's Hospital Boston in a number of capacities, including as the administrative coordinator for the outpatient clinical program. Prior to joining Children's Hospital Boston, Todd worked as a youth counselor at an international boarding school in Salzburg, Austria where he served as a mentor to teens from across the world. Todd is dedicated to improving the health resources available to young men.
